All persons flagging traffic on streets and highways will be required to be certified by July 1, 2009. All persons involved in leading the installing of traffic control devices will be required to be certified by January 1, 2010. All persons involved in supervising and managing work zone installation and safety will be required to be certified by July 1, 2010.

Courses can be taught at any location your company requests and can be tailored to meet your company’s needs such as night and weekend classes. The Flagger Certification course requires about one and a half hours of class room and parking lot/shop hands-on training, 2 hours of supervised flagging, and a test with a passing score of 70 or better. After 40 hours of flagging experience the flagger qualifies for certification.

The Flagger Instructor Certification Course requires the student to go through the 1 & ½ hour classroom and parking lot/shop hands-on portion of the Flagger Certification Course as a prerequisite. Another hour and a half of classroom instructions follows the Flagger Certification portion of the course. This course can also be tailored to meet your company’s needs.

The certification process for your flaggers and flagger instructors will be handled by Kellenberger Engineering with cards issued to individuals and lists of certified employees issued to companies.
